The variance chart will help you determine accurate salary ranges for your specific area.

If the variance percentage for your area is a positive number, then add it to both the low and high regional averages on the salary chart.

For example:
The salary range for a Customer Service Specialist in a small company in the Northeast is $36,366 — $54,891. Your business is in Boston, MA, where the variance is +11.96%.

Use the following calculation:
$36,366 + 11.96% (of $36,366) = $40,715
$54,891 + 11.96% (of $54,891) = $61,456

The salary range for a Customer Service Specialist at a small-sized company in Boston, MA is $40,715 — $61,456.

If the variance percentage for your area is a negative number, then subtract it from both the low and high regional averages on the salary chart.

For example:
The salary range for a Maintenance Worker in a medium-sized company in the West is $26,374 — $44,092. Your business is in Fresno, CA, where the variance is —7.56%.

Use the following calculation:
$26,374 — 7.56% (of $26,374) = $24,380
$44,092 — 7.56% (of $44,092) = $40,759
