Position: Mortgage Underwriter
Location: Jacksonville, Fl
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm
Job Description:
Candidates will be underwriting against claims.
Must be familiar with guidelines.
Underwrites mortgage loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards.
Evaluates loans in order to maximize organizational profit and minimize risk or loss.
Examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness.
May be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, etc).
Ability to validate income, asset and collateral documents including self employed tax returns.
Critical reasoning skills required in order to draft rebuttal responses for investor repurchase request
Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and responding to claims of breach of representations and warranties of residential mortgage contracts to ensure loans were closed in adherence to established guidelines at time of origination.
May include validation of income, assets and credit/liability documentation to support origination underwriting decision.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
Minimum 2-4 years of residential mortgage underwriting, compliance, forensic underwriting, mortgage loan repurchases, quality control audit reviews or loan origination.
Reasoning skills
Ability to work on calculations
Must have excellent written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in developing and articulating persuasive arguments.
Must possess strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent time management skills with an emphasis on quality.
Ability to multi-task
Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Familiarity with DU, LP and other AUS systems is a plus
