Job Description:

Associate underwrites residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards. Examines loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Works with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents. Works with more senior underwriters on loan exceptions. Have authority to withdraw and decline loans. May be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc..) This job code includes all levels of underwriting authority and exception levels. May respond to individual and investor audits. Must achieve government underwriting authority consistent with individual level of experience, including a successful CAIVERS check.

Required Experience/Qualifications:

1+ years of full-fledged underwriting of first-purchase loans.
Ability to validate income, asset and collateral documents including self employed tax returns.
Excellent phone skills and, superior customer service skills.
Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Previous credit signing authority
Stable work history
