Ranking marks fifth time Adecco has been awarded this distinction

MELVILLE, N.Y. (September 24, 2008) – Adecco USA, the nation's third largest employer and a division of the world's largest recruitment and workforce solutions firm, is one of the 50 companies included in the AARP’s latest national ranking of the best employers for workers 50 and older.

The Melville, New York-based organization is ranked at the top half of the list, taking the 18th spot. The AARP has awarded Adecco this distinction five times out of the last eight years. AARP, a name derived from the former American Association of Retired Persons, created the award to feature employers who show commitment to an aging workforce.

The non-profit membership organization said Adecco and others named to the list have "demonstrated exemplary practices with regard to recruitment, retention and promotion of older workers (and) have created and fostered a supportive workplace and encouraged workers to remain actively employed.”

Adecco’s Renaissance Program partners with local and national programs to help train and place mature workers and retirees for employment. This program is aimed directly at recruiting mature workers for temporary and full-time positions with top employers and provides special recruiting materials with information on training and employment opportunities as well as benefits information.

Additionally, Adecco offers full and part-time employees benefits that are particularly attractive to 50+ workers, including flexible work schedules, tuition reimbursement, in-house classroom training, online training and certification classes. “Our continued inclusion on this list demonstrates our commitment to helping individuals and companies build a better workplace,” said Joyce Russell, president and chief operating officer of Adecco General Staffing USA.“The benefits and incentives we offer create a vibrant and productive environment for workers of all ages, but it is the 50+ worker we initially targeted these programs to in an effort to recruit them for their skills and experiences.”

The AARP Best Employers program recognizes innovative organizations that offer policies and practices that appeal to workers 50+, including flexible work options, training/learning opportunities, competitive health and retirement benefits, and age-neutral performance and appraisal systems. AARP The Magazine, will spotlight Adecco and the other Best Employers in its upcoming November-December issue.
