Looking for several installation engineers that will be based out of Ft. Meade MD but will travel to hostile enviroments to perform installations. Candidate will provide support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders, also provides in-depth engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives for government, agencies in support of their strategic modernization efforts and telecommunications enhancement design for medium and large-scale telecommunications operational personnel, and telecommunications strategic program management. Provides support to the ISSO and is responsible for the reciept, custody, issue, safeguard, accounting for and when necessary, destruction of Comsec material.The COMSEC Custodian is further responsible for the maintenence of up-to-date records and the submission of all required accounting reports. The COMSEC Custodian will be thoroughly familiar with the procedures for handling COMSEC material 1AW NSA/CSS Policy 3-16. Analyzes functional business requirements and design specifications for SATCOM activities. Provides identification of solutions for SATCOM requirements by applying design/implementation of new systems and enhancements of exisiting systems. Participates in analysis, design and new construction of SATCOM systems. Responsible for understanding the needs of the customer and the realities, capabilites, installation, operation and maintenance of commercially available SATCOM hardware and software products. Responsible for the implementation of COTS SATCOM products in collabroation with engineering and implementation teams throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations. Must be experienced in engineering, installation, configuration, and operations of IP-over-SATCOM platforms to include (but not limited to ) VIPRSat, SKYWIRE, Viasat, and iDirect. Must possess experience in one or more areas outside of SATCOM engineering including telecommunications concepts, computer languages, operating systems, cryptographic equipment operation and keying, microwave/RF engineering, and network communications and have a working knowledge of general networking theory to assist in how crypto's fit into the architecture, troubleshooting, etc. Provides training on SATCOM system integration and operation.
Requires a bacelor's degree (or equivalent) and eight years of related experience.
Travel: Candidate must be willing to travel up to 90 days at a time and willing to work in hazardous areas.
Clearance: Must possess TS/SCI clearance and FS polygraph
