Lead Application Integration Specialist - Owings Mills, MD (#0129)
Our client, a large health insurance provider in the Mid-Atlantic region, is currently looking for a full-time Lead Application Integration Specialist to work out of their Owings Mills, MD location.
Within the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Total Care & Cost Improvement (TCCI) programs - primary responsibility for the organization’s technical architecture, including development, execution, operations, data, security, and network architectures. Responsible for understanding all of the infrastructure, hardware, systems software, networking products, and protocols. Ensures that all components work together, ensuring that the technical architecture design meets the technical objectives and requirements. Defines, acquires or develops, installs, and maintains technical services/solutions needed by the applications. Converts quality requirements into the technical architecture design. Participates in the reuse of components for the technical architecture, avoiding duplication of effort.
Architects application framework design, using and extending the services of the technical architecture appropriately. Defines technical services needed by the applications that are unique to the client. Mentors the architecture and applications teams in design and development activities. Ensures that the applications are designed for performance. Conducts design and code reviews to ensure adherence to performance guidelines. Provides suggestions for ways to restructure designs to achieve better performance. Has knowledge of current performance monitoring tools and utilities. Architects the business object model and the business component model, defining core reusable assets that support the long-term strategic business. Looks for reuse opportunities, abstractions, and patterns across classes and components. Mentors the architecture and applications team in successful object-oriented design and modeling of business solutions. Advances the team’s understanding of object technology. Serves as consultative resource to business units by explaining technical alternatives in understandable language, and providing appropriate solutions to their problems. The incumbent is responsible for developing data architecture and data integration strategies, providing both strategic and tactical planning.
Providing architectural vision to the team as well as on an enterprise level to other groups within the company - specific to PCMH and TCCI programs.
Data Architectural efforts associated with research, development and implementation of process engineering projects designed to advance the process capability of the IT organization - specific to PCMH and TCCI programs.
Provide data architectural design, problem solving and technology leadership on an enterprise level by ensuring project compliance at the data category/subject-level horizontal perspective - specific to PCMH and TCCI programs.
Within the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Total Care & Cost Improvement (TCCI) programs - Development and/or modification of procedures, programs or hardware to solve business systems problems, considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating costs and business needs. Has technical knowledge of all components of one or more operating systems or subsystems. Has technical skill and experience necessary to develop complex custom solutions. Works with the technical team and management to propose system strategies to support company needs.
Serve as a consultative resource to IT staff by performing or assisting with data architecture, system/application design in areas such as infrastructure, security, operations, integration, execution and network, often spanning multiple heterogeneous platforms, and particularly as these designs apply to new business drivers such as database, middleware/messaging and other Web Technologies. Also performs or assists in problem resolution, recommending alternative techniques and providing training and guidance related to primary areas of responsibility and emerging technologies
Determination of Project Discovery approaches and estimations in the data realm
Participation in the technical solution planning process
Reviewing/providing input into project schedules as they evolve.
Reviewing and providing input into requirements traceability matrices
Establishing/enforcing the Enterprise information architecture and reviewing data components of a Systems Development Lifecycle
Identification of data conversion and translation strategies i.e. review, interpretation, and translation of requirements and use cases. Mapping artifacts and managing data/message requirements in an Enterprise Application Integration environment for Middleware layer.
Design of WSDL if a web service interface is part of the solution.
Review of logical data designs/models; review with Business stewards – Validate/review physical data models
Support Data Profiling
Maintain architectural and knowledge documents
Performance monitoring, capacity planning, system tuning, availability planning;
Functions as an Enterprise Applications integration specialist for interoperability design and problem resolution related to business applications, related middleware and database components specific to PCMH and TCCI programs.
Develop, coordinate and manage projects and project plans for development; develop proposals and delivery tasks/issues
Technical and business writing; including formal/informal oral presentation; process flow diagrams, Standards development
Design and implement next generation solutions database strategies/technologies for new applications and existing web-based, client-server application with minimal assistance
Select evaluate and recommend third-party software solutions for business problems in data space (viz, decision support systems and business intelligence)
** PLEASE NOTE: Data Architecture OR Enterprise Architecture experience IS required for this role **
Familiarity with new technologies and how they could be leveraged to benefit the department, new business strategies and corporate initiatives. Experience in client server, OO and/or netcentric development. Has technical knowledge of all components of one or more operating systems or subsystems.
This position has significant multi-project management expertise in developing and architecting solutions in a collaborative environment as well as significant experience in multiple hardware / software computing environments and system components.
This position requires a BA/BS in computer science or related IT field OR equivalent experience. Must also have a minimum of 8 years of experience in high-level systems database design and access and/or applications and/or network design, development and tuning, as well as familiarity with networking fundamentals.
Knowledge of system analysis and design methodologies and tools, and experience with large and complex systems. Experience with multi-system/platform program integration. Experience in all and demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following: logical and physical database / applications design; technical documentation; full-cycle system development; RDBMS;
Fair knowledge of networking; security; web and/or web application server administration; NT, Unix, and/or mainframe systems administration; Web-enabling applications; Java technologies (EJB, JSP, servlet).
Experience with some or all of the following:
Knowledge of healthcare industry, Data Architecture best practices with knowledge of information systems operations
Consultative and technical management experience is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with CASE tools, ErWin, data warehouse tools, and the integration of OLAP and OLTP environments is a plus.
Experience in metadata management policies and procedures.
Work experience in environments with Object Oriented methodology and development tools such as Rational Rose, Model Maker, VISIO and ERwin to develop process and models as well as experience in technologies such as SOAP, JDBC and XML.
