Adecco Engineering and Technical has a current job opportunity for an Packaging/Logistics Engineer Job on a contract to hire basis in McCalla, AL.


Job Summary

Packaging/Logistics Engineer Job will lead packaging development projects from initiation through manufacture (launch). Projects will consist of modifications of packaging for existing products as well as the packaging for new products. Additional scope includes consideration of new, exploratory platforms for next-generational package design and materials selection.

Packaging Engineer will represent the department in cross-functional SBU (Strategic Business Unit) teams. The individual will need to find solutions to problems, manage multiple priorities and expectations, and deliver to those expectations. The individual will have accountability to their Strategic Business Units (SBU areas) for packaging development and support. Project deliverables need to assure that quality and consumer expectations are met while maintaining project schedule. In addition to working within cross-functional teams, the individual will also work closely with quality, finance, procurement, regulatory, engineering, operations, consultants and outside vendors.

Responsibilities:


Package development of various materials.
Execute projects with complete scope from feasibility through primary. Tertiary package development and qualification.
Generation and execution of test plans and reports
Creation and maintenance of time lines and financial targets
Coordination and completion of qualification programs for new package designs and materials
Development and coordination of cost savings initiatives as related to package designs and materials
Travel to vendor and manufacturing locations for support of packaging project activities
Hands-on evaluation of packaging for conformance to project requirements. These activities can occur in warehouses, manufacturing plants and in packaging laboratory studies
Determine supply chain coverage and asses market fluctuations


Additional Responsibilities:
Review current loop assumptions from program launches
Complete fleet counts and asses gaps
Asses customer requirements for DOH commitments at supply locations
Review access fleet for available containers
Process quotes and purchase orders to procure additional packaging
Retrofit RFID technology into existing fleet for tracking

Qualifications
A 4 year technical degree or equivalent experience (6-8 years without technical degree). With degree (1-3) years of experience, preferably within the Supply Chain realm of the automotive industry.
