Description/Duties
Constructs, maintains, and tests electrical systems and components. Uses measuring and diagnostic tools to test and modify electronic parts. Ensures systems and components meet established specifications. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. May require 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Experience/Education – Associate’s Degree in Electronics or Diploma from technical school with electronics major or a military equivalent is required. – Experience with receivers and transmitters are preferred. – Experience with avionics such as transponders, radar, collision avoidance, nav/com, etc. is preferred. Skills – Ability to test and troubleshoot electronic assemblies, subassemblies and circuit boards to the component level. – Ability to read and interpret schematics for electronic circuits such as receivers, transmitters and digital assemblies. –Familiarity with using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, DVMs, etc. – Ability to accurately perform tests and document the results according to written procedures. – Soldering experience and small mechanical assembly experience preferred.
