Our client, one of the largest engineering companies in the world, has an exciting full time career opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer. The Project Engineer will oversee project engineering teams and coordinate with other engineers, managers and project services to ensure that a project runs smoothly. This includes understanding how multiple active projects are impacting each other in terms of resources and budget, performing weekly reviews of engineering progress and producing monthly reports.

Responsibilities include:
Assist in developing new projects
Able to solve technical solutions and assist in sub station and P &C areas.
Work closely with OE project manager to plan and coordinate owner’s engineering activities per project schedule.
Manage and assign resources for owner’s engineering activities
Maintain record and update status of owner‘s engineering activities
Lead OE engineering team in developing high-level conceptual packages and reviewing preliminary/detail engineering packages (drawings, engineering notes, SPRs, RFPs, calculations and other technical document under OE mandate)
High-level conceptual packages
Provide estimate and turn-around dates for developing conceptual package/reviewing engineering packages
Liaison with OPCO engineering team for information sharing and resolving technical issues
Respond to question and problems that come up during design, engineering and construction
Participate in meetings with OPCO and other engineering contractors to review comments, discuss technical matters and conclude to final agreement between concerned parties
Site visits for project related activities on an ‘as-required’ basis
Provide a progress report to OE project manager
Manage the progress of engineering commitments to ensure successful project completion.
Coordinate Monitoring project resource requirements and usage.
Develop scope, schedule and budget for work packages as assigned and directed by the Project Manager.
Ensure compliance with all applicable companies policies and procedures.
Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control on assigned projects.
Coordinate with Project Management, Procurement and Construction groups for scheduled and successful completion of the project.
Communicate regularly with Project Manager, client, service providers and contractors to ensure that the requirements of work packages are clearly understood and delivered to plan.
Resolve overall technical and project execution issues.
Manage construction support during the construction phase of the project by responding to site queries and arranging the appropriate resources.
Ensure the timely delivery of all engineering and design packages including return data information.
Monitor project progress and quality of work, and providing coaching and mentoring to project team members.
Qualifications include:
A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 15 years related experience and registered Professional Engineering is preferred.
Experience in the power transmission industry is preferred.
Considerable knowledge of North American codes and standards.
Supervisory experience is an asset.
People oriented with an ability to establish a high degree of credibility with staff and clients.
A strong leader who can motivate and engage a team with demonstrated strength in leading multidiscipline groups.
An excellent written and verbal communicator with superior interpersonal and relationship management skills.
Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and time lines.
Occasional travel to remote locations is required.
