Job description

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, supervisors/managers and all other employees.

Responsible for adhering to, and maintaining all ISO 9001 procedures and requirements of the sales function and department. This includes active participation in the internal and external audits for the Lockport plant, when necessary.

Through the Supervisors, supervise the activities of all hourly employees and the operation of all equipment for all shifts.

Assign and direct work to meet production schedules and maintain quality requirements, and to assure even flow of work to other departements.

Must be familiar with and have complete working knowledge of general production operations including but not limited to: Equipment capabilities and limitations, set up procedures, quality adjustments, care and maintenance.

Insure care in the use of equipment.

Cooperate closely with maintenance personnel in their repair and upkeep activities and assure that adequate preventive maintenance measures are taken by all concerned.

Administer company policy as it affects the employees and equipment he/she supervises.

Interpret and enforce compay rules and regulations and maintain discipline for all employees under his supervision.

Participate in plant safety and housekeeping programs and maintain safe working conditions and practices in his assigned work areas.

Administer on-the-job training to personnel he/she supervises and assist appropriate staff personnel in developing and carrying out specialized training necessary to maintain effective production.

Representing management, maintain two-way communication between employees he/she supervises and other departments and levels of management.

Assist in the slection of hourly production workers as directed.

Supervise orientation of new hires and/or employees transferred in department and evaluate their performance during their trial period.

Assist in maintaining hourly personnel attendance and other records so as to effectively audit employee adherence to plant policies and practices.

Any other dutites assigned by higher management.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
