Network Field Technician – Augusta, ME
$45K - $55K Base
Our client is a fast-growing company providing network solutions to utilities worldwide. They use advanced wireless networking technologies to help bring utility companies into the future. Our client is currently hiring a Network Field Technician, who will be responsible for working with utility technicians to accurately scout and validate hardware design parameters. The Network Field Technician will be responsible for identifying suitable alternatives and field constraints to these design parameters
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Field scout and validate network hardware design assumptions in the field prior to construction
Evaluate RF performance of proposed network locations
With regional Utility crews determine feasibility of designed location in terms of pole suitability, power availability, mounting heights, etc
Identify and make recommendation on suitable alternative mounting locations, evaluating impact on design tolerances
Work with network design team to address and solve process deployment issues in the field
Assist in field diagnosis and repair of problematic components and devices by visiting their locations throughout Ontario as accordingly dispatched via the project
Use test tools to assess whether a Smart Meter component or device is working and responsive and recommend or facilitate proper course of action
Modify soft configurations in the field using test tools
Create component or devise lists that need to be replaced, moved or otherwise altered by Utility
Gather cellular tower RF signal strengths as read by the collectors and by a mobile radio to assist in diagnosing problematic collectors, repeaters and any pertinent component or device
Monitor the Smart Meter Collectors to confirm the problems have been resolved and record resolution
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3-5 years in RF testing or a related field
Ability to travel within large geographical and have reliable transportation
Experienced in SecureMesh Architecture and deployment methodology or related field
RF experience, and familiar with problem resolution methodology
Trained in the proper use of relevant test equipment and configuration settings (i.e. test bench, Procare and Secure Mesh).
Solid understanding of principles and theory of basic electronics
Experience with 1X and GSM Radios required
Experience with 802.15.4 2.4 GHz Radio is an asset
Windows and MS office, including Word, Excel
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION
Post-secondary degree/diploma in related field (Electronics, Electronics testing)

Able to utilize problem solving methodologies while in the field independently
