Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for a Technical Writer - Mechanical on a contract opportunity with a leading company in Johnson County. This is a 6 month contract position with the possibility for extensions.
Key Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, writes and edits technical test procedures and reports for electromechanical products.
Acquires and assembles the necessary information collected from engineers and test labs to generate new documents from scratch without the need for pre-existing similar documents.
Coordinates and facilitates the review and release of the documents with other departments.
Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Acquires and organizes basic source material, including applicable specifications, engineering write-ups, and drawing packages.
Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail.
Helps coordinate the layout and manual organization.
Arranges for typing, duplication, and distribution of material.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
Reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment.
Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Assists in laying out material for publication.
Researches engineering schematics, technical design specifications, interface design, design diagrams and test specifications with design engineers.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail.
Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
Job Requirements :
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of three years related experience/training.
Good level of experience required with MS Word, Acrobat and Excel
Extensive technical test plan and report writing experience required.
Knowledge of engineering lab test equipment (environmental chambers and general engineering test equipment required)
Capable of generating the art work necessary to illustrate the test setups.
Capable of identifying the necessary test equipment to meet the intent of various testing and understands the operation and limitations of basic day to day test equipment.
