Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for a Desktop/Helpdesk Technician on a contract to hire opportunity with a leading
Engineering company in Gaithersburg, MD.

In this position candidates will be under general supervision of the local Network Technologist (NT) provides support of
Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN). Responsible for helping to maintain the
physical network, file servers, desktop and laptop workstations and applications. All
activities to conform with the company's standards for hardware and software.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Configure, maintain, upgrade and support all workstations, peripherals and laptops
at required internal and commercial software revision levels and configurations per
specified company standards.
2. Assist in the implementation of the File recovery plan for all offices in that territory.
3. Under guidance from the NT - respond and resolve user IT problems and system
integrity issues. Perform repairs, including warranty repair work.
4. Assist in providing end user training, in the use of PC workstations, applications
and the networking environment.
5. Maintain and document regional workstation inventories
6. Utilizing change management tools, performs moves, adds and changes to the
network and PC devices as requested.
7. Follow approved recycling practices for computers, batteries, and misc electronics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate Degree in computer science or equivalent plus 2 years related experience
supporting shared resources in a LAN/WAN environment. Proficiency with
troubleshooting concepts; PC workstations (laptops and desktops); Windows operating
systems including Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and XP; Microsoft Office
products; antivirus software; networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing, and network
printing; data backup/recovery concepts; and electronic software delivery methods (WSUS
Altiris, FTP). General knowledge required on Microsoft Windows 98 and Windows NT
operating systems, network servers, Citrix, and WAN technological concepts.
