SQL Developer/Network Engineer Waynesboro, VA. Temp To Perm/Direct Hire
Responsibilities
The SQL DBA / Network Engineer role is responsible for administering and managing database resources and services supporting departments across the company. Some of the responsibilities include:
Manages disk space, replication, queries, indexes, logs, and backup and restore plans to ensure data integrity and recoverability.
Supports database creation, security, permissions, data warehousing, and report and analysis services.
Updates drivers and patches, and regularly reviews system logs to ensure optimal performance and system availability. Evaluate new SQL server versions and Manage upgrades.
Documents project plans and change control procedures.
Provides technical support and assistance to data owners and end users.
Requires a demonstrated proficiency with T-SQL and database performance tuning.
Provides direct support of production MS environments running SQL 2005/2008 and general Linux/Unix operating systems.
Optimize and tune production databases.
Interact with Development teams to support development of high performance database code.
Identify production bottlenecks and participate in design and implementation of remediation strategies.
Requirements
Demonstrated proficiency and experience SQL server, network transport protocols, server and system monitoring.
Microsoft SQL certifications desired.
Demonstrated competence developing and supporting Stored Objects, SSIS transformations and SSRS reporting.
Two years with SQL 2005 or higher; experience with SQL Server 2000, Microsoft SSAS, and Business Objects reporting a plus.
Experience with different operating systems within a database environment including Linux/Unix and Microsoft operating systems
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or 2-5 years of related work experience.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities, and have good written and oral communication skills.
This is the top tier of escalation for network and database issues, and as such requires rotational on-call support on weekends and holidays.
