Laurel, MD
Long Term Contract

Must have an Active Secret Clearance

Basic Qualifications Required:

8-10 years of experience in an information security role.
MS in computer science or related area.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment where project and task deadlines are critical and multiple projects run in parallel.
Be self-managed and self-motivated.
Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking, and operating systems.
Demonstrated experience managing, supporting, and developing security event management tools such as Arcsight and Splunk.
Understanding of proxies, intrusion detection, vulnerability scanners and other security applications which support a security operations center.
Very strong networking skills are required.

Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Supervisor for Security Engineering, the Information Security Systems Engineer shall lead, coordinate, and deliver information assurance capabilities in support of IT operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

Analyze information regarding advanced cyber threat tactics, techniques, methodologies, and vulnerabilities that present threats to IT operations. Create, support, and monitor information assurance services to mitigate risks to IT operations. Recommend and apply improvements to the performance, usability, and value of information assurance tools. Develop, disseminate, and produce reports, trends, and situational analysis on information assurance activities.
Participate in project and cross-functional security teams requiring interaction with system administrators, networking staff, application developers, and other IT operations staff in order to identify and implement information assurance controls and risk mitigation techniques for IT operations.
Establish, manage, and meet information security goals and objectives related to security systems engineering reporting. Provide routine reporting on those goals and objectives to management.
