Summary Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to remove Fretting, Corrosion or worn metallic or non metallic coatings by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Verify dimensions and alignment of Part.
Confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
After machining is complete polish to break sharp edges.
Carry out the assigned tasks, in accordance with the applicable maintenance
manual and this manual.
Ensure maintenance operations are performed in the appropriate sequence, that inspections are requested in an orderly and timely manner and that maintenance activities are performed according to the appropriate maintenance data and customer requirements.
Ensure that all test equipment or tools used to make airworthiness determinations are labeled in accordance with this manual before use Request stock as required for the work being performed.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and understand written instructions in English.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to clock in and out and enter job numbers into the computer.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Has a minimum of twelve months experience as Machinist Technician.
Proof of OJT/technical Training required.
Ability to set up parts and operate the VTL Machine.
