Advice for getting an HR job.

OK, so you might not need as much advice as the average job hunter. You know how to spruce up your resume (and LinkedIn profile), write a cover letter, search, apply, interview and negotiate. Yeah, it’s tedious, but you’re made for this stuff.

One often-overlooked factor you should keep in mind is the professional unemployment rate. Why? Because it’s low. And when it’s low, you’re in charge. You’ve got some extra leverage. What’s this mean? Well, you can be selective—you can really aspire to land the perfect job.

Prep for these interview questions.

  1. What do you know about our company culture?
  2. Why does our company appeal to you?
  3. Why are you a good fit for this HR position?
  4. Tell us about an HR-related dispute that you resolved.
  5. How has HR changed over the past few years, and how will it continue to change?
