Our client located in Meriden, CT is seeking experienced Machine Operators for 1st shift. These are long term opportunities with the option for temp-hire or direct hire for the right candidate/experience. The position is Mon-Fri (OT available as well) and starting pay is $14/hr.
Following training/probationary period pay will adjust (bump to $14.50/hr).

Qualified candidates should have a history of machine set up and operation, familiar use of Vernier Calipers and Micrometers, safety awareness, able to read and write English and physically fit to perform manual tasks and standing for shift when needed.

The Machine Operator will be a part of the Cable Manufacturing group, responsible for various duties, including setting up and operating machine equipment to produce cable.

Our Client is a global designer and manufacturer of cable and antenna systems plus active and passive RF conditioning modules, providing total-package solutions for wireless infrastructure. They provide RF Systems solutions for cell-based mobile communications, in-building, in-tunnels, television & radio, radio-link networks, LMR/PMR and HF & defense.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work from operation or construction sheets and general set up work instructions to set up the Uniwema machine.
• Guide material through equipment related to the process such as forming stations, welding stations and take-up.
• Observe equipment during operation to assure quality production in accordance with applicable specifications.
• Operate material handling equipment as necessary to move work in process, raw materials, load and unload payoff and/or take-ups as necessary for aspects related to the process.
• Use large cable cutting tool to cut scrap cable product and production samples as required. Use O.D. tape, micrometer, and vernier caliper to check material periodically during operation and maintain required production records.
• Detect faulty operations of equipment and defective material and refer these and other undesirable situations to manager.
• Follow all applicable safety and environmental regulations and procedures. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other similar and related duties, operate or assist in the operation of other department equipment as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

-Skills and experience consisting of or equaling 2 to 5 years industrial / construction equipment set-up and operation.
-Requires the use of shop mathematics together with the application and understanding of complicated specifications, tables, various types of precision measuring instruments and the training generally applicable to the Extrusion Operator occupation.
-Previous machine operation experience is preferred.
-Solid initiative; requires the use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of set-ups, operations, and processes within the limits of recognized methods and procedures.
