Adecco Employment Services is currently recruiting for Quality Control Technician's to work at a reputable coffee distributor located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

 

The purpose of the Quality Control Technician position is to provide technical support to the Production Teams and other support staff as assigned. This individual will serve as an internal customer advocate to help ensure the requirements and expectations of said clients customers are met. This individual will support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required by our Federal, State, and Local governing bodies, as well as those of third party auditing. They will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality and environmental practices.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

1. Provide Production Team Members and Line Leads with technical resources in areas of product quality and food safety during on-going food manufacturing, as well as in noncompliance situations.

2. Perform pre operational inspection at the beginning of line start up.

3. Coordinate and perform audits on finished and intermediate products, ingredients, processes, and systems as required.

4. Perform HACCP checks, scale and magnet verifications, customer return evaluations, and other duties as assigned to support the prerequisite and HACCP programs.

5. Follow safety, sanitation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices when performing tests (ATP swabbing).

6. Enforce GMP¿s during production processes.

7. Monitor and document production lines are following specifications of each product.

8. Ensure food safety regulations are being followed at all times.

9. Inspect and verify cleaning of equipment and areas.

10. Place non-conforming products on hold when quality or food safety standards are not met.

11. Pull samples for each product ran, label and store.

12. Manage inventory of lab supplies.

13. Assist Quality Assurance Team with non-conformance documentation.

14. Assist Quality Assurance Team with continuous improvement and quality system development projects. 15. Perform other duties as assigned by the QA Supervisor.

16. Complete audits and analyses as required supporting the needs of the Production Team improvement efforts.

17. Provide appropriate guidance and training on GMP¿s and quality systems to Production Team members when necessary.

18. Provide summary feedback to the Quality and Operations Management Team on key measurements related to program assignments.

19. Provide technical support in the fact-finding process related to non-compliance and HACCP violations.

20. Drive a harmonious and constructive working atmosphere by demonstrating (through words and actions) a positive, cooperative, and supportive attitude toward team members and company policies.

21. Decisions made by this individual may significantly impact manufacturing cost, production efficiencies, and customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications 1. Minimum 2 year college degree required; preferably in Food Science or related field.

2. Minimum 2 year manufacturing experience required, food processing desired.

3. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, GMP¿s, food safety, and lab techniques preferred.

4. Flexibility of work hours and all shift schedules where necessary.

5. Ability to be on their feet for extended periods of time (8 hours or more at a time)

6. This individual must possess strong leadership skills, excellent organizational and problem solving skills, and the ability to work with a computer (proficient in Microsoft Office applications).

7. Must be able to communicate technical, scientific, and regulatory information, both written and verbally.

8. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to make presentations, facilitate meetings, look for root cause, and provide training.

9. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
