Summary
Multi-skilled Packaging Mechanics possess fundamental electrical/electronics knowledge and advanced mechanical comprehension to perform preventative maintenance and repairs of manufacturing equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Reassembles equipment after repair, changeover, or modification.
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Utilizes powered and mechanical tools to accomplish job tasks.
Interprets equipment drawings and instructions.
Repairs or replaces defective parts.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts.
Starts devices to test their performance.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
Recognizes and corrects electrical equipment malfunctions.
Responds to equipment calls and troubleshoots equipment problems.
Documents work order progress.
Participates and conducts training on job related topics.
Demonstrates workplace behavior that is consistent with company policies and values.
Communicates job information to accomplish work tasks.
Maintains good attendance as defined by company and/or department policy.
Practices good personal hygiene and maintains a clean work area.
Exercises personal safety on the job and demonstrates a commitment to the safety of others and our products.


Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
Two plus Years of College or AS Degree: at least one year related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience (2 years of experience = 1 year of education).

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and Manufacturing software used to accomplish maintenance functions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
May need certification in Powered Industrial Equipment or specialized equipment certifications (i.e., Hot Work Permit, Waste Treatment, etc.).

Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate various powered equipment or mechanical devices in order to perform certain maintenance functions (i.e., grinder, lathe, belt welder, hydraulic press, etc.). May perform confined space entry when necessary to complete job task.

Other Qualifications:
Willingness to travel in effort to acquire new equipment training or prototype approvals. Electrical/electronics knowledge.
