Our client, a large global manufacturing company in Meriden, CT is currently seeking experienced candidates for a Machine Operator Assistant position on 3rd shift (Training may be required on 1st shift). This is a long term position with potential for temporary to hire and opportunity for growth for the right candidate. 1st shift training--7a-3p $12/hr

3rd shift 11p-7a $13.20/hr (bump to $13.70 post 90 day evaluation period)

The Operator Assistant will be a part of the Cable Manufacturing group, responsible for various duties, including assisting the set up and operation of welding equipment to produce cable.


• Perform activities under direction of the line operator.
• Perform a sequence of operations to accomplish timely reel and material changes. Assist operator in line setups.
• Locate proper reels in storage area and move to line area using material handling equipment (Forklift, pallet jack or hand truck) as necessary.
• Mount reel in payoff; mount take-up reel.
• Perform cable management activities to ensure proper cable coiling onto reels. Monitor cable to take-up reel, hand guiding on take-up as necessary.
• Manage take up reel change outs; cut cable, secure to reel, swap reels.
• Deliver completed reel to next destination.
• Assist operator in operation of lines, as required.
• Visually inspect cable for defects, and refer these and other situations to the operator, supervisor or Group Leader.
• Follow safety policies, maintain clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other similar related duties as required or directed.


• Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting and carrying out of instructions; use fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required.
• Experience up to and including 3 months.
• Solid initiative; requires the use of judgment to comply with instructions and standard procedures involving the making of minor decisions.

High School Diploma/GED at minimum
