Position: Accounting/Finance - Financial Analyst - Advanced
Pay Rate: $47.00 per hour
Length: 3 months W2 contract

Summary and Responsibilities

You will be working within a team of accounting and finance professionals responsible for both GAAP and Statutory accounting for multiple derivative instruments types and the preparation of quarterly and annual GAAP reporting.

• The derivatives program is the primary tool for managing client’s exposure to risks in interest rates, foreign exchange rates, equity markets, and credit across its fixed income portfolio, mortgage loan portfolio, equity position in joint ventures and international subsidiaries, and various insurance liabilities such as GMXB products and its Global GIC program.
• Client’s diverse and sophisticated use of derivatives includes the following instruments: interest rate swaps, interest rate caps, interest rate floors, foreign currency swaps, foreign currency forwards, financial forwards, financial futures, equity options, credit default swaps, replication synthetic asset transactions, and income generation derivatives.

Principal Accountabilities of Position:

• Participate in the preparation of Derivatives financial results for the Company’s GAAP Filings, which includes notes to the quarterly and annual statement, GAAP stand-alone audited financial statements.
• Participate in the monthly and quarterly accounting close process, which includes accounting entries and account reconciliations for derivative trade types.
• Understand the specialized authoritative accounting literature governing hedge accounting for derivatives (FAS 133) and help ensure proper application to derivative transactions and hedging strategies.
• Ensure appropriate hedge documentation complies with authoritative accounting literature.
• Participate in the effort to set team objectives that align with the needs of key customers (e.g., Derivatives Middle Office, Derivatives Front Office, Statutory Financial Reporting, GAAP Reporting, and IT), monitor progress against those objectives, and manage priorities in response to emerging and competing initiatives.

• Bachelor degree in business, finance or accounting or business-related field.
• 6 – 10+ years of experience in related field (Derivatives, interest rates, hedge documentations, statutory reporting, etc.)
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of Products required. Proven Excel!
• Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills required
• Analytical Ability/strategic Thinking required
• Organizational/Multi-Tasking Abilities required
