Pay Rate: $25-26/hour
Length of Assignment: 12 months W2 contract
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:30a-5:00p

The Staff Accountant is responsible for monitoring the accounting operations including month close, general ledger, accounts payable, billing and related accounts reconciliations /controls.

• Ensure the accuracy of the financial transactions
• Review the day to day general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable activities
• Review daily batches from Operations to ensure proper postings
• GP receipts batches for Inventory
• Cash Receipts Processing (Automated Uploads to Great Plains)
• Perform monthly, quarterly and year end close
• Month end GLIM entries as assigned
• Maintain complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations (eBSAR or Blackline)
• Enforce financial controls are maintained in the department
• Maintain and update internal Sarbanes-Oxley documentation for financial transactions and support internal audits of related controls
• Safeguard the assets of the company
• Other projects as needed

Financial close is accurate and reported timely

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting preferred or equivalent experience
• 2 years of accounting experience preferred

Environment/Physical Demands: This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and phone. Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, lift, carry and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to talk and hear. Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. • Knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition principles and ability to apply
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
• Organizational skills, including attention to detail, problem solving and follow through
• Advanced Excel, Power Point and Word.
• Critical thinking, judgment and decision-making skills
• Results driven, team player, can work under tight deadlines and ability to communicate with all levels of financial and operational personnel.
• Financial system expertise, encompassing spreadsheet, queries, large volume data manipulation and reconciliation, and month-end accounting close process.
• Experience in relational databases such as Access or Cognos a plus
• Experience in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Great Plains a plus
• Experience working with multiple financial systems to obtain data to analyze the business.
• Requires oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate among peers as well as upper management
• 0-2 years Accounting experience is a plus preferably in a manufacturing or distribution industry
