Accounting Manager / Supervisor

To provide leadership in the Accounting Department and oversee the maintenance, development and implementation of accurate accounting, general ledger and financial statements. Under the guidance of the Director of Accounting and Finance, the Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting tasks and activities designed to maintain an accurate system of accounting records in compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles.


This position will also maintain and/or implement a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk to enhance the accuracy of the Company's financial reporting.


Supervision of Accounting Staff will include delegation of accounting activities, ensuring completion in a timely and accurate manner.


Duties and responsibilities Include the following:


- Responsible for timely, accurate and comprehensive general ledger account reconciliation performed both directly and indirectly by supervised staff

- Responsible for all aspects of daily, monthly and annual fiscal closing procedures and accruals

- Provide daily reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts, including, but not limited to, cash accounts, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory, credit card purchases, accounts payable, petty cash and loan accounts

- Provide cashflow status updates to Director of Finance

- Provide bi-weekly reconciliation of payroll processing, paid time off, health and welfare benefits and retirement plan accruals 

- Monitor and review all monthly and quarterly state excise taxes, sales taxes, property taxes and other government required compliance returns

- Oversee monthly physical inventory to ensure that SOPs are being followed

- Oversee inventory cycle counts and spot checks

- Generate monthly inventory valuation reports and provide analysis, research and resolution of discrepancies 


Skills and Abilities:


- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills

- Demonstrated ability to build rapport and good working relationships with customers, vendors and staff

- Team player with the ability to effectively interact and work cross-functionally with all departments to meet business goals and objectives

- Strong analytical, decision-making, planning and problem-solving skills

- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends and/or holidays to meet deadlines and during periods of high volume work

- Customer-service oriented with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

- Well organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities

- Be motivated, hard-working, safety-minded and innovative

- A passion for craft beer and knowledge of brewing industry is preferred
