This is not an admin assistant role rather a Clinical Scheduler opportunity for a managed care organization.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assures peer reviews are scheduled with appropriately licensed MD based on a number of factors within expected turnaround times.
• Contacts treating facility to determine attending MD availability.
• Determines if MD availability is exhausted so that review can be sent for external MD organization.
• Completes and submits external reviewer form including clinical summary taken from member’s record.
• Processes external review clinical reports to assure sign off within required turnaround time and by appropriately licensed MD.
• Is logged into and answers Queue line calls
• Identifies scheduling issues and discusses solutions with senior or supervisor.
Responds to questions from internal and external parties involved in the scheduling process.

MD/Peer Review Schedulers are responsible for scheduling peer review discussions between the servicing facility attending physicians and the managed care medical director. Schedulers are expected to be detail oriented with workflows and effective time zone conversion ability. Administrative staff are required to have a clear understanding of the state level license/regulatory requirements surrounding peer review scheduling. Carefully monitors turnaround time requirements. Incumbents are regularly responsible for dealing professionally with confidential information while performing several aspects of assigned work. Schedulers works under general supervision.

Must have qualifications/experience:
• Scheduling experience within a clinical or business setting.
• Direct experience in scheduling peer reviews or working with healthcare regulatory and compliance issues is preferred.
• Experience applying specific policies or standards to daily work to assure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ability to interact in a courteous and businesslike manner with colleagues as well as external facility staff
• 5-10 year of basic PC skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• 5+ years previous customer service experience
• 2 years or more of college completed
• Experience working with ICD-9 and CPT codes
• Experience with analyzing patient records.
• Experience working in a mental health/substance abuse facility
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and a tolerance for handling large amounts of data.

•Knowledge of HIPAA compliance is preferred
•Previous experience with benefits and medical terminology a plus
•Prior experience in healthcare
• Effective typing skills required
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills a must –
• Ability to demonstrate organizational and problem solving skills.

Shift Start/End Time:
Must be able to work any shift from 7AM-6PM CST.
