Job Description

Overview of business area or project: The Investment Banking and Capital Markets Division assists clients across regions and industries in achieving their strategic and financing goals. IBCM offers best-in-class advisory, structuring and execution expertise to a broad range of corporate and financial sponsor clients. The Division has advised some of the world's largest companies on complex mergers and acquisitions as well as equity, debt and other capital raisings.

Business Justification: Provide support for the client onboarding function across IBCM. The new Target Operating Model (TOM) and Refresh rollout has increased volumes tremendously. Also, moving to a new onboarding platform has caused processing issues. 

Key Responsibilities: Main responsibilities will focused on the client onboarding and KYC maintenance processes, including but not limited to, advising the Banking deal teams and collaborating with our partners in Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) including the various EDD desks (PEP, Rep Risk, Sustainability, Sanctions)
• 1st line verification of the identity of prospective new clients within the Investment Banking Capital Markets division
• Act as a liaison between Banking deal teams and FCC (2nd line of defense), responsible for the completion of the CID process and ensuring proper diligence is completed in line with the CID guidelines for IBCM clients
• Conduct database searches and evaluate results to ensure that new customers are not subject to OFAC or other global sanctions lists and that the customer and related parties do not present any reputational risk to the Firm
• Undertake specific due diligence as required, including but not limited to, Finders/Consultants, Reputation Risk, Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), Sanctions, Sustainability
• Advise deal teams of deficiencies in paperwork submitted and educating deal teams on the Firm’s Client ID obligations

Overview of department/team: The IBCM Risk and Controls Group ("RCG"), supports the supervisory, audit, and overall controls framework within IBCM. RCG manages the understanding and implementation of policies and procedures by IBCM and serves as the SME advisor to IBCM on risk and controls related policies and procedures.

Challenges contractor will be facing in role: Strict and tight deadlines, high pressure environment

Essential skills and qualifications: 
• Ability to handle multiple functions under tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
• Be able to interact with members of deal team at all levels and be able to work under tight deadlines; particularly during off hours as we service a 24-hour business
• Proficiency in the following systems/software is a plus: Microsoft Office, Lexis Nexis, World Check, Factiva and various Compliance Related Systems.

Desired skills and qualifications:
• Individuals with various levels of Client ID/KYC/AML expertise
• Experience with due diligence of Investment Banking Capital Markets Clients (Corporate clients, Financial Institutions, Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Hedge Funds, Funds, SPVs) is a plus.
• General understanding of the IBCM business and the products and services it offers (M&A, ECM, DCM, HYCM, Corporate Lending)?
• Sound knowledge of the wide range, and complex variety, of fund/corporate structures.
• Highly motivated, with drive and enthusiasm; Excellent collaboration skills.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
