POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Accountant is to process and administer Accounts Payable and Payroll. This position is responsible for timely Accounts Payable processing, coding verification, authorization, disbursements and storage. The position is also responsible for a variety of complex payroll reporting utilizing the ADP Workforce system. Position requires extensive data entry, with exceptional attention to detail and systematic document handling and storage. Regularly performs a wide variety of complex accounting duties, requiring initiative and a significant amount of judgment in problem solving and in utilizing generally accepted accounting standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Prepare and process weekly check runs including ensuring appropriate AP documentation, obtaining/verifying proper authorizations, and GL coding
o Maintain vendor files and manage all vendor communications
o Prepare, distribute and file IRS 1099 forms in accordance with current IRS guidelines
o Prepare monthly GL account reconciliations related to payroll, AP and other accounts as assigned
o Prepare and post monthly journal entries associated with financial statement preparation
o Prepare and maintain audit schedules for all related accounts
o Prepare other financial reports and related analysis
o Train theatre staff on proper coding and processing techniques and recommend new GL codes as needed
o Assist the Controller in processing bi-weekly payroll for up to 300 employees including complex GL coding, posting and reconciliation
o Comply with external reporting and payment requirements for all employee related benefits to multiple unions
o Maintain and secure all payroll related forms, files and documentation
o Attend Finance and Investment Committee Meetings and take/prepare minutes
o Prepare various State and Federal filings
o Continually analyze and propose changes to processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness
