Adecco is recruiting for an Applications Developer for a University in Dining Services in New Brunswick, NJ.

  • This position will lead the research and development of new IT initiatives for the client and will be responsible for the life cycle of current IT services at Dining Services. 
  • Provides architectural and big-picture support for the development of enhanced IT products. Responsibilities include high-level analysis; design; coding; debugging; testing; pilot implementations; planning and installation of new systems. 
  • Formulates and defines proposals for system scope and objectives.  
  • May serve as a project leader for large and complex system projects, or as a specialist providing technical consulting on complex projects. 
  • Safeguards department assets; provides a measurable internal system of assurances and controls. 
  • Reviews current data exchanges with other departments and develops more secure, reliable, and streamlined alternatives.

There are currently two short-term goals:

  1. To setup a new Primary virtual environment site and a Disaster Recovery (DR) environment site.
  2. To migrate all current services from the Server Room facility to the Primary Site and the DR Site without impacting operations. 
  3. To help the University in transitioning to a new ID Carding system.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent education and experience with three or more years of relevant experience. 
  • Must possess strong technical knowledge of programming, analysis and system administration. 
  • Requires good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple, shifting priorities.
  • All applications are currently running on or will be migrated to VMware virtual environments. Proficiency with WMware 3.5, 4, and 5 is a must.
  • Intimate knowledge is required in network programming, sockets, SSH, secure and reliable packet traffic management over unreliable networks, MS SQL, MS Access, MySQL and Oracle database development and management, SQL queries, OS independent programming such as Python.
  • Expert in UNIX/Linux OS, Apache, PHP, system tools, and programming languages such as AWK, C, shell.
