This position pays $13.20 hourly

Under limited supervision, performs a wide variety of complex and intricate assembly operations and processes in the production of precision Leupold optics utilizing drawings, diagrams and written instructions. Assignments may be complex and require judgment to perform quality checks and prevent rework. Uses a wide range of hand and power tools. Activities may include setup and operation of machinery where tolerances or alignments are difficult to obtain and maintain. May determine sequence and methods where specifications are not available. May provide training to lower level assemblers.
- Consistently demonstrate and maintain established production and quality levels in assigned work areas where proficiency has been previously established.
- Visually inspect component parts, sub-assemblies and finished products for contamination, damage or defects.
- Clean or remove dirt, dust, grease, adhesives or other contaminates from component parts and finished products using established procedures.
- Manipulate and install small parts and pieces to assemble sub-assemblies and component parts into finished product in accordance with established procedures. This may include o-rings, main-tubes, cam-tubes, pivot-tubes, erector springs, adjustments, dials, caps, drive pins, wavy washers, step-washers, reticles (crosshair/dot/glass/illumination/electroform), main-tubes, objective & eyepiece (build & install) lenses, b-rings, eye-shells, circuit boards, mirror (prep & install), armor and stop-nuts.
- Use common and specialized hand tools, assembly fixtures and test equipment including items such as torque wrenches, comparators, collimation stand, water tester, and nitrogen filler. Use all equipment properly, in a safe manner and in accordance with work instructions.
- Perform more complex assembly activities such as building, cleaning, inspecting and installing eyepieces and objectives using eyepiece torque machine; erector systems; objective, gold ring and lock ring using correct parts and objective installer; diopter check; Collimate and correctly mark erector systems; and perform final mechanical check using the collimation stand.
- Follow all work area procedures and documented processes to insure product meets standards.
- Maintain work area cleanliness and organization for increased efficiency, accuracy and quality.
- Insure work meets the area defect acceptance limitations using the established quality standards and specifications.
- Operate grease and or glue dispensers per work instructions and change grease brushes and fixtures as needed.
- Verify correct parts, torques, adhesive and lubricant applications per work instructions.
- Check for defects using drawings specifications and work instructions, identify defect codes and properly tag and record the defect on the defect sheets. Correctly mark or rework defective parts.
- Identify and report to the area lead or supervisor any errors in work instructions, defective tooling or equipment, tooling or equipment in need of calibration or out of date adhesives or lubricants.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
