The 2nd Shift Production Lead is responsible for overall operating performance of Production Assembly operations. Oversees work-in-process, assembly, testing and final assembly. Works with the Assembly supervisor to streamline plant efficiency with emphasis on quality, improving financial results and training.



  • Supports all established plant and manufacturing goals and objectives.
  • Tracks productivity week to week for measured shift efficiency and improvement.
  • Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's principles, policies and applicable California and Federal laws.
  • Establishes effective communication processes between departments and shifts.
  • Tracks product to schedule shift performance and strives for continual improvement.
  • Oversees adherence to inventory control procedures to ensure inventory accuracy goals are constantly achieved.
  • Ensures that operating policies and procedures are consistently maintained and current.
  • Identifies root causes of obstacles, recommends corrective actions to management, implements agreed upon solutions, and audits results to ensure problem resolution.
  • Ensures employee training is consistent with policy and procedural guides.
  • Responsible for coordination, evaluation, and continuous process improvement of the department/team and creating a positive climate where people want to do their best.
  • Accountable for training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure high performance results. 

Qualifications Education/Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience applying a comprehensive, hands-on knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices.
  • Supervisory experience of a production team of 10 or more Technical Skills
  • Clear understanding of fundamentals of lean manufacturing, pull and visual systems is a plus.
  •  Clear understanding of TQM and use of tools and data for problem solving, decision making and continuous improvement is a plus.
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  •  Experience with an ERP production system. Required Competencies and Aptitudes

  • Solid understanding of assembly manufacturing and the ability to grasp instructions quickly to be able to complete task with little supervision.

  • Ability to uphold Safety standards, participate in Continuous Process Improvement on the job, and follow our Manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow instructions.
  •  Ability to follow good manufacturing policies and procedures as well as our Operating principles.
  •  Ability to learn to use and operate basic measurement & assembly tools. I.e. Ohm meters, Calipers, Counting scales, Soldering irons.
