Test Administrator Assistants on the Alternate Test Formatting team provide on-demand services by formatting tests to meet the needs of test takers requiring special accommodations. ATF Administrator Assistants manage the end-to-end process of converting a standard test form to any of the many alternate formats.

Location: Princeton, New Jersey

Duration: 6 months contract

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop textual descriptions of imaged-based content
  • Adapt test questions to meet accessibility standards in accordance with client requirements. Critically review items written by colleagues and outside item writers.
  • Assist in developing paper test formats and implement item accessible features for a program or program.
  • Coordinate assignments to vendors and monitor the completion and quality of their work according to schedule and specifications for braille and audio.
  • Use test assembly software to review functionality of items tagged for accessibility in the assembly of tests or pools of items and work with colleagues to ensure test forms are accessible.
  • May assist in preparing alternate text for test-related materials for publications such as descriptive or instructional brochures.
  • Assist with preparation and monitoring of schedules for producing tests and test-related deliverables.
  • Assist in preparing project plans and reports on issues related to a testing program.

Candidates should meet the following requirements for consideration:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in field of specialty (Education, Special Ed, or Psychology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and experience can be acquired is required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of industry best practices of students with disabilities, best practice of accessibility standards; Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is highly desirable.
    Knowledge of captioning experience for closed captioning for video content is desirable.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, strong technical skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and a willingness/adeptness with regards to learning new technology are required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills, and experience working with internal and external customers are required.
  • Decision making – ability to make reasonable judgments; problem solving in the face of ambiguity
  • Demonstrate a high level of productivity and exhibit accountability for assigned work.
