Our client, a leader in providing educational and testing support. Is looking for Assessment Specialists to join the team. This position located on the NW side of San Antonio.

This is a six (6) month assignment which has the possibility of being extended.

This position will be working under the English/Language Arts Dept. This position MUST technical background and have strong content knowledge that can be applied to add significant value to the development of ELA items, tests and related products that are aligned to current subject-area standards, including the Common Core State Standards and individual state standards. This test-development position concentrates on assessments of writing and reading skills at the middle-school, high-school, and/or college levels. Must be knowledgeable about current standards and trends and can lead discussions with clients and stakeholders on assessment of English Language Arts constructs. Understands how technology can help in representing the construct. Can reliably and efficiently follow established processes and propose efficiency and innovation to improve processes. Can learn and use new technologies facilely to develop test items and to score student responses.

Responsibilities
? Develop test items aligned to the Common Core State Standards, individual state standards and/or subject area-standards
? Develop innovative items types in accordance with client requirements
? Develop high-quality test items that meet or exceed client requirements
? Gather and resolve feedback from multiple sources on items; evaluate item acceptability after Testing
? Assemble pretests, tests, and/or pools of questions to meet specifications, and work with colleagues to ensure test forms are accessible to all students
? Participate in constructed-response scoring activities, including work with faculty consultants or state department staff
? Recruit, train, mentor, and manage outside item writers; help develop item writer training materials; assist with facilitation of item writer training meetings
? Assist client committees, including organizing and facilitating meetings, recommending committee members and explaining and summarizing analysis results
? Assist with reliability, validity or comparability studies. Apply knowledge of item statistics to evaluation of items and assembly of tests

Experience and Skills
Education
A Master's degree in the humanities (e.g., English, Literature, Composition, History, Theatre, Philosophy or a closely related field) or a closely related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and experience can be acquired is required.
Experience
A minimum of (3) years of increasingly responsible professional experience, including teaching at the middle school, high school, and/or college level, in writing, in editing, and/or in developing assessments is required.
? Comprehensive knowledge of a relevant field of specialty in order to develop ELA items, tests, and related products that are closely aligned to the current subject-area standards, including the Common Core State Standards and individual state standards.
? Ability to approach ELA item development in a way that integrates the multiple dimensions of the current subject-area standards.
? Consider performance expectations that state what students should be able to do in order to demonstrate that they have met the standards
? Understand and work with different text types - stories, drama, poetry, and informational texts from a variety of subject areas, including English Language Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Math, and Technical Subjects
? Understand and work with texts written for difference purposes - Argumentative, Informative/Explanatory, and Narrative
? Ability to develop test items aligned with appropriate standards (e.g., Common Core State Standards, individual stat standards, specific client test specifications), including tests used for
K-12 accountability, college admission/placement, teacher certification, and national benchmarks.
? Ability to respond quickly, productively, and flexibly to a wide range of new assessments and new item types.
Comprehensive knowledge of field of specialty in order to develop test in subject area and to serve as resource person for peers, committees, and clients is required. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with clients and external committees is also required.
Other requirements include: highly sophisticated writing and editing skills; detailed knowledge about the technical aspects of composition, including the principles of syntax, grammar, usage, and mechanics; ability to analyze texts with precision, acuity, and subtlety; ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously; experience in using software applications and Internet searches; strong technical skills and ability to learn new technologies as needed for the job
Experience in test development, educational measurement, applied statistics a plus.
Experience with constructed-response (essay) assessments and holistic scoring would be helpful.

Ability to analyze the qualities of essay responses very perceptively and to articulate that analysis lucidly; and understanding of informal argumentation would also be helpful.
