Assistant Merchandiser, Leather Goods

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Merchandising to:

  • Assist with the assortment development which aligns to overall department strategy
  • Manage daily Merchandising responsibilities, including: building, editing and maintaining assortment sheets; product lifestyle management process; maintaining time and action calendar to anticipate department needs for seasonal milestones and ensure timely execution of key deliverables
  • Manage the sample process with partnership from the Sample Management team to request, track and deliver to appropriate parties
  • Generate and analyze all weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales reports and participate in weekly business review meetings that include Senior Management
  • Support and influence line planning and category assortment by analyzing product performance, floorset feedback, consumer trends, and competitive landscape with an understanding of business unit needs by market
  • Prepare all necessary documents and resources for major Product Lifecycle Meetings, including Protos and Buy Week
  • Partner and act as liaison with all facets of business including Design, Product Development, Buyers, Planning, and Visual Merchandising. Understand the different roles of the cross-functional teams and how they relate to the Merchandising role.
  • Participate in competitive research by owning Runway Trends Recap and Competitive Pricing Recap to help identify market trends and product opportunities for future assortments
  • Participate in store visits and engage with customers to better understand client needs
  • Proactively seek new opportunities to grow the business and further personal and professional development


The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 0-2 years’ work experience with relevant Internships in Merchandising or Buying
  • Strong product sensibility, with a sense of brand and client needs
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Detail oriented, highly organized and ability to multi-task
  • Team oriented. Displays positive attitude and willingness to assist co-workers at all levels. Adapts to and works effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups.
  • Understands the importance of details, priority setting and multitasking with the ability to react quickly with strong sense of urgency and excellent follow-through skills
  • “Can do” attitude with work ethic based on strong desire to exceed expectations
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and proficient learner of merchandising systems
