Associate Director, Analytical Development

Adecco Medical and Science is seeking a highly motivated leader with analytical development experience to work on innovative cell biologics for cancer treatment. The Associate Director will provide process and analytical development and CMC leadership to a team responsible for Product and Vector analytical characterization of cell therapy products, maturation of research analytical methodology into development and GMP, and analytical method transfer from and/or contract vendors. He/she will also be responsible to direct laboratory studies, analyze experimental data and assure careful documentation of resultant information. The Associate Director will review and approve procedures, SOPs, protocols and development reports, and work with the Product Sciences, Research and Quality Control teams to design and execute cell therapy processes and participate in laboratory activities to support analytical and process development as well as the characterization of cell products. Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Lead Product and Vector Characterization and Analytical activities in support of engineered cell products, including oversight of cross-functional teams
• Design, develop, execute and document analytical methods to study and characterize processes for production of T cell therapies
• Lead analytical laboratory staff in the selection, design and implementation of novel analytical methods, including FACS
• Ensure standard operating procedures, analytical test methods, analytical sampling plans and batch records meet the highest industry standard
• Review and approve technical documents
•Work with a cross-functional development team to advance T cell therapy programs
• Introduce analytical methods for cell therapy products including process improvements and efficiencies
• Design and execute process development studies to develop a thorough understanding of operating and performance parameters.
• Ensure a collaborative work environment with key client groups in Research, Quality and Manufacturing


• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related discipline
• Must have 5+ years of leadership and management experience
• Previous experience with cell therapy products is a plus
• Demonstrated leadership ability in pharmaceutical manufacturing of biotechnology products, aseptic processing, cell therapy products, analytical method development, technology transfer, method qualification/validation and process development
• Ability to lead a diverse, experienced technical staff team with attention to detail, and work with and lead others
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal and writing skills
• Expertise with analytical method development and qualification and analysis of cell therapy products
• Excellent understating of cellular processes and metabolism and experience working with human primary cells, including T cells, and flow cytometry
• Ability to think critically, and demonstrated troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Proven ability to work with both subordinate staff and senior level leaders
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to function efficiently and independently in a changing environment
• Self-motivated and willing to accept responsibilities outside of initial job description
• Excellent skill in Microsoft word, Excel and data analysis and well-developed computer skills
