Associate Production Director - Part Time / Maternity Leave Coverage

Adecco Creative is assisting our client, a well-known and respected children’s publishing company, in their search for a temporary Associate Production Director. The role will cover a maternity leave and will work part time, 3-4 days onsite Tuesdays – Thursdays, beginning in the end of April through the end of August with potential for 1 – 2 additional days per week in September.

Qualified candidates should have prior management experience, as the role will involve managing a team of 7 (rather than individual book projects) as well as prior book publishing experience. Excellent communication skills are required, as well as a professional, forward-facing demeanor.

The role will involve:

Ongoing Communication as a Department Liaison

  • Serve as a point person over email/phone to connect queries about project statuses from other departments to the seven team members who manage individual projects.
  • Funnel larger issues and high-profile questions to the Senior Director.
  • Create or analyze reports as needed on project statuses.
Tuesday Galley Meetings
  • Gather updates from team on Tuesday mornings.
  • Print spreadsheets and go through statuses in person at meeting.
  • Relay changes to affected team members and notes on updated reports.
Thursday Sales Materials Meetings
  • Gather updates from team on Thursday mornings.
  • Relay changes to affected team members and notes on updated reports.
Ongoing Staff Admin
  • Attend 8 biweekly status meetings every week to monitor project statuses.
  • Receive out-sick emails and vacation requests and assign coverage if needed.
  • Go over coverage/priority plans for longer vacations ahead of time and monitor when staff members are out.
