Battery Technician/Electric Automobile/Possible Internship

Our client is Tier One Automotive Electric Battery Manufacturer/Supplier.  They are in need of another Battery Technician to join their team in Troy.  This will start out as a one-year contract with potential to be converted to their permanent full-time staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review established company safety checklists or work instructions to ensure machines are operating safely and are properly maintained.
  • Support the e-powertrain engineering team in determining and resolving technical issues and repair issues on battery packs before and after mass production off site.
  • Perform battery repairs, remanufacturing and outgoing quality inspection based on specifications and utilizing company approved methods, work instructions, and safe work practices.
  • Inspect battery packs for defects and replace defective parts out with replacement pairs or make repairs as appropriate.
  • Complete leak tests battery packs to ensure sealed properly and safe for water submersion testing.
  • Obtain and maintain a hi-lo license and operate, drive and complete required safety inspection checklists before driving hi-lo.
  • Utilize hand tools and visual inspection to complete repairs.
  • Evaluate and escalate complex concerns to the appropriate leadership and management for input and resolution.
  • Complete weekly status reports and identify and communicate roadblocks to team.
  • Attend vehicle builds on behalf of product engineering
  • Perform and complete pack retro fits
  • Complete diagnostic activities for battery pack troubleshooting issues.

Job Requirements:
Strongly preferred Associate’s degree in engineering or technological field.
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in mechanical field. Strongly preferred experience in mechanics with repair and troubleshooting tasks.

  • Previous experience with high voltage battery or components for HEV, PHEV, and EV is preferred.

Background check, drug screen and valid driver’s license required.
