Benefits Analyst

Adecco's client, a large healthcare provider in the Mid-Atlantic, is seeking a Benefits Analyst for a 12 week assignment. 

PURPOSE: Works with the manager and Sr. Benefits Analyst to oversee and coordinate the administration, compliance, funding, and communications of the Company-sponsored benefit programs (medical, vision, dental, pension, 401(k), retiree flex, financial planning, etc.).

Under the direction of the Manager of Corporate Benefits, the incumbent's accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. 30% Manages various benefits programs. Plans benefit fairs at all major locations. Coordinates the efforts of vendors, IT, Payroll and Enrollment & Billing to administer programs. Works with Sr. Benefits Analysts and manager to communicate the approved benefits programs and enrollment information to all associates, using all available communication channels – intranet, print, voice mail, etc. Communication also includes the following: coordinates the development of the Summary Plan Descriptions outlining the programs for both active associates and retirees, proactively and reactively conveys all appropriate information to associates through the intranet, information seminars/meetings, benefits fairs and retirement counseling, and responds to inquiries related to the programs.

2. 20% Coordinates and consults with both internal and external departments/vendors regarding special projects such as: establishment and maintenance of retiree database, transference of subsidiary 401K programs, the coordination of an information video and others as necessary in order to further the efficiency and effectiveness of customer service.

3. 25% Researches, identifies and resolves problems as they arise to ensure accuracy, quality and associate satisfaction. 

4. 15% Ensures that plans are operating in accordance with federal, state, corporate and departmental regulations and policies, and performs discrimination analyses to ensure that plans across all salary levels are relatively equitable.

5. 5% Researches available associate benefits and recommends plan modifications in order to provide associates with desired, up-to-date and customized benefits plans. Monitors vendor relationships and associate satisfaction with the current benefits programs in order to ensure that the company provides the associate population with desirable benefit plans, while limiting the costs to both the associate and the company.

6. 5% Maintains effective working relationships with external vendors, subsidiaries, and associates in order to facilitate the effective functioning of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no direct reports, but may provide technical guidance to less experienced staff, interns and other members of the department.

SCOPE DATA: Position is responsible for the use of $60 million Benefits budget; 5500 associates; 700 retirees.


Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related area and 1 - 3 years of related corporate benefits experience.

Abilities/ Skills: ERISA knowledge, strong analytical skills, payroll/HRIS systems knowledge, strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and adept computer skills including Microsoft Office.
Must be able to effectively work in a fast paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time. Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Preferred: Experience with PeopleSoft.
