Position: Bindery Operator 

Schedule Options: Monday through Friday, 9:15 AM - 5:45 PM Other shifts available too: 6:30am - 3:00pm or 2:30pm - 11:00pm

THE JOB DETAILS Bindery Operators setup, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain machinery in order to convert printed sheets into finished products. In addition to equipment operation, Bindery Operators conduct quality control, troubleshoot issues, prepare orders for customer pickups, prepare orders for deliveries, and ship packages. Bindery Operators need to be able to read and interpret job tickets in order to apply proper production processes specific to individual products and services. Being a successful Bindery Operator requires a high-level of attention to detail and an ability to prioritize work while maintaining efficiency. The Bindery Operator position is a physically demanding position, requiring operators to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 lbs. Bindery operators are expected to learn and operate equipment including, but not limited to, paper cutters, perfect binders, saddle stitchers, creasers, perforators, shrink wrappers, UV coaters, laminators, coil binders, paper folders, as well as process pickups and shipments. Daily Essential Functions and Responsibilities 1. Warehouse Environment a. Maintain a safe and professional work environment. b. Keep workspace area neat and clean. c. Use safety equipment whenever necessary. d. Be respectful of other employees in the warehouse. e. Keep conversations professional and related to the job. f. Handle all warehouse equipment with care. General Bindery Knowledge a. Read and interpret job tickets accurately. b. Understand unique and specific job production processes as it pertains to individual products and services. Machine Operation a. Apply proper production processes to individual orders by operating machinery as expected. b. Operate equipment as efficiently as possible without sacrificing product quality. c. Follow standard machine operating procedures as specified during training. d. Produce product at no less than standards determined by the customer. e. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. f. Notify manager/supervisor in the event of issues that cannot be easily resolved. g. Maintain integrity of equipment by following interval machine maintenance procedures. a. Process work based on job ticket, reporting, and managerial prioritizations. b. Adhere to time constraints as it relates to completing orders by deadlines. c. Traffic work-in-progress from station to station. d. Prepare jobs for outsourcing as needed. e. Prepare jobs for customer pickup, delivery, or shipping. f. Communicate with customer service departments, bindery departments, printing departments Queue Management a. Process work based on job ticket, reporting, and managerial prioritizations. b. Adhere to time constraints as it relates to completing orders by deadlines. c. Traffic work-in-progress from station to station. d. Prepare jobs for outsourcing as needed. e. Prepare jobs for customer pickup, delivery, or shipping. f. Communicate with customer service departments, bindery departments, printing departments, and/or bindery manager/supervisor in the event of a possible missed deadline.
