Responsibilities for this Buyer  job include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs all functions related to planning, purchasing, negotiating and expediting assigned commodity items in a highmix environment
  • Ensures materials are delivered on time and to schedule and within the guidelines of company supply chain strategies
  • Works closely with manufacturing, engineering and sales departments on assigned projects
  • Initially primary job duties will be entering purchase orders into the system
  • Big push to have someone who has strong data entry skills
  • Stays in close communication with the Purchasing Supervisor, suppliers, plant management, engineering, and other associates as required. Have good written and oral communication skills. Takes directions well and follows through on projects and objectives in a thorough, complete, and timely manner
  • Develop sourcing strategies and lead supplier selection process
  • Actively pursue and implement methods that will reduce the lead-time for “critical path” materials with no extra risk or expense to Ametek. This person also has the responsibility to keep the E&O (excess & obsolete) inventory low and under control
  • Analyze purchased components requirements


Qualifications for this Buyer job:

  • Ability to work independently, highly proactive work style
  • Ability to partner across all levels and functional areas of the organization to ensure customer needs are met
  • Ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Oracle ERP a plus)
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • High Work Ethic:  able to work outside normal work hours to complete tasks.
  • Enthusiastic, high energy, calm under pressure, organized, takes initiative, drives to achieve goals, assertive, ensures accountability for self, decisive, manages and accepts change



3-5 years of Procurement experience, preferred. Prior experience in an electronic manufacturing supply chain environment or comparable work-related experience.



Bachelor’s Degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Business. Or similar field of study

Length: 3 months

Pay: $26/ HR

Shift/Hours: 8A – 5P
