Coordinates activities related to the procurement and distribution of parts, equipment and materials.  Responsible for maintaining vendor relations, reviewing and processing requisitions, authorizing payments to vendors and participating in the supplier evaluation process.


Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

Purchase Order/Releasing using MRP/APS and other systems.  Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for parts, equipment and services.


Effectively manage the supply chain and actively engage the in Sales, Inventory and Operational Planning (SIOP) process for the Russellville site.


Manage vendor qualification for the purpose of monitoring and consolidating orders for better management of expenses.  This includes development, implementation and management of vendor scorecards.


Interact with Accounts Payable to ensure all backup documents have been provided to ensure a timely payment to vendors.


Assist in oversight of inventory movement and accuracy.  Maintain optimum inventory levels and safety stocks through strategic purchasing.  Work with Materials Manager to analyze and establish stocking levels for all inventoried items (Raw, WIP, Finished Goods and Aftermarket) and review on a regular basis


Identify opportunities for cost reductions and vendor-managed inventories

Knowledge and Skills: Must have thorough understanding of customer-supplier relationship and materials support function, working knowledge of Purchase Orders and blanket release process functions, basic understanding of Purchasing procedures, working knowledge of Inventory Control processes, strong understanding of MRP and experience with price negotiation. 


Associates or Bachelors Degree in Business or related field or equivalent Purchasing/Supply Chain experience required


Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment, support of supply chain, inventory optimization/management, and experience with basic computer usage and competency for software use


Scope of Responsibility/Accountability: Coordinates supply chain functions and makes recommendations to Management for continuous improvement and cost-savings for the facility.


Supervisory Responsibility: Some. This position reports directly to the Division Supply Chain Director and, in addition to outlined responsibilities, provides guidance/instruction for employee(s) in supply chain functions.



Financial Responsibility: Some.  This position is responsible for entering into pricing agreements that benefit the corporation.  Additionally, this positon is responsible for continually seeking to identify opportunities to reduce and/or eliminate costs.
