Machine Operator; Laser Operator:

Summary of Position


The Laser Operator has the fundamental task of producing product through the operation of Laser Work Centers and Material Preparation Stations. The Laser Operator performs processing duties as trained in the laser cutting, preparation, cleaning and inspection of product while maintaining all necessary production goals and accurate documentation. The candidate must maintain a clean work area and good documentation practices at all times. The candidate must also comply with all relevant safety policies in area and company.


Position Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
  • Two-year AA or Trade School Certificate is a plus.
  •  Prior machine operation and/or CNC experience desired but not required.
  • Experience with hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers) is desired.
  •  Must complete specified training, as well as safety procedures related to safe handling, labeling and usage of chemicals.
  • Must be able to read procedures and comprehend instructions related to all process and company information.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary with all levels of personnel and possible customers/auditors.  Minor computer skills are required for in-process and final inspection.
  •  Basic math and calculator usage skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to visually manufacture and inspect parts with unaided eye according to area standards. Attentive eye to detail over high volume product handling is important.
  • Must be able to perform tasks associated with position while wearing the necessary safety glasses and PPE for the area.
  • Must be able to use a stereo microscope according to area standards for up to your entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 45 lbs. on an occasional basis during your entire shift.
  •  Must be able to handle and process very small parts with acceptable hand dexterity and good hand/eye coordination while meeting production needs/standards.
  • Must comply with cient's dress/attire policy.

Duties and Responsibilities


1. Performs all types of processing related to Laser operation, part preparation, testing, cleaning, visual and dimensional inspection of products as well as validation support

2. Comply and follow all safety policies as required by company and per work area.

3. Be accountable for all manufacturing process records and fillings (job time login/logout, PMR settings, process signoffs).

4. Perform and be responsible for Laser process validation PQ protocols.

5. Inspects and accepts responsibility for the quality of all parts processed per procedures and standards.

6. Maintain acceptable goals and work with others as a team to meet the daily/monthly goals for production and quality.

7. Maintain all work areas in a clean and orderly manner by Lean Manufacturing and 5S standards.

8. Maintain acceptable attendance and tardiness per the employee handbook and company policies.

9. Maintain good documentation practices as trained and in accordance with procedures.

10. Participate in, support and help implement all Lean Manufacturing/Process Improvement initiatives.

11. Complete and maintain training in Safe Chemical handling, labeling and usage as needed

12. Process gas change-outs & primary setup tasks

13. Bench clearance, job shop upkeep and cleaning.

14. Perform any other duties and assignments as required.



The Laser Operator will be trained on the following company policies and QMS procedures: QMS-0005 Standard Tolerance; QMS-0006 Sampling Plan; QMS-1001 Process Interaction; QMS-1006 Manufacturing; QMS-1014 NCR; QMS-1021 Training; QMS-1027 Traceability; QMS-2011 Material Usage Log.


Materials, Tools and Equipment Used: Rotary hand tools, hot plates, ultrasonic cleaners, test and measurement equipment and laser machining systems.
