POSITION:     Category Procurement Innovation Analyst

LOCATION:     Englewood Cliffs, NJ

HOURS:           Monday – Friday (8-5)

DURATION:     6 months W2 with possible extension

PAY RATE:     $32.45 / hour



Ideal candidate will represent Procurement as key interface with select number of suppliers Quality, Service, Resiliency, VIP and strategic activities. Will be Procurement single point of contact for internal business partners and external suppliers. Responsible for material pricing, project coordination and communication to key internal/external stakeholders and ensure on-time in full. This role is not a traditional “purchasing” role and as such does not require core “source” skills. Will only participate indirectly in supplier selection process through supplier evaluation input and is not primary interface between suppliers and innovation and supplier value creation, but act as facilitator for commercialization of new technology and cost savings idea.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage key interfaces related to project execution, such as R&D (raw/pack), TIMQ, SC Planning, Brand Development, Finance, Material and Category Procurement, Global Procurement and external supply base.
  • Oftentimes works directly with WL2 Managers, WL3 Directors, and WL4 VP’s inside and outside of Procurement, therefore the job requires seniority to be able to influence and manage the relationship effectively.
  • Lead innovation / commercialization projects as “supply project manager” interacting with Portfolio an 3PM Management, Global Procurement, R&D (raw/pack), TIMQ, SC Planning, Brand Development, Finance and supply base
  • Responsible for material pricing, project coordination/communication to key internal/external stakeholders and ensuring on-time in full project delivery to encompass between 30 – 60 innovation projects, of which 30+ % could be either global or cross regional in nature.
  • Responsible for communication/coordination of all brand strategies and category initiatives for innovation, VIP, sourcing studies and material benchmarking activities to Internal Procurement to ensure alignment between supply management and category initiatives.
  • Responsible for communication and implementation of procurement sourcing strategies, as well as bring procurement knowledge and expertise into all innovation, VIP, and sourcing study project teams, which include R&D, TIMQ, SC Planning, Brand Development, and Finance
  • Execute ongoing material, packaging and graphic changes for brand maintenance through the innovation projects led by Brand Development)
  • Responsible for the coordination/communication to the key internal and external stakeholders to effectively manage the transition to minimize write-offs.
  • Full understanding and execution of the innovation funnel.
  • Lead VIP cost savings projects as “supply project manager” interacting and participating on teams with, internal supply management groups, business operating teams, plants and supply base, for area of responsibility.
  • Develop all cost inputs, capital requirements and recommendations for capacity, as well as responsible for all supplier liabilities into the financial business case and IPM section 6.2 for raw and packaging materials that will be utilized in the Innovation and VIP projects
  • Responsible for use and maintenance of PCE training tool that is utilized by R&D (raw/pack), Finance and Supply Management for the costing of all innovation project scenarios.
  • Support all Product Group VP initiatives, which include activities such as strategic sourcing studies and global/ cross - regional category cost benchmark studies.
  • Manage all communication tools within category for internal and external distribution.
  • Support all regional/cross regional and global Innovation Risk Assessments as Supply Management representative for all category innovation projects.
  • Support Material Contingency Planning at Category level
  • Support supplier approval process for new supplier or supplier sourcing sites being utilized for innovations, to ensure supply base meets e agreed performance criteria that have been agreed upon with Corporate Quality.

  • Influence others through WL3 to deliver on their commitments, gain support and to affect change
  • Manage continuity of materials supply to the plants for all innovation and VIP initiatives with extremely complex supply base for raw and packaging materials.
  • Manage effectiveness and amount of communication in matrix organization.
  • Management and execution of the established procurement Operating Framework and ways of working that has been established for CSM, Global CSM, MSM and NSM.
  • Balance needs of category with existing SM strategy as it relates to innovation and new product development
  • Scope
  • Production items only
  • Supports typical material spend of up to $200 - $400 million, ~ 50 - 300 suppliers and ~ 5000 – 10,000 materials in up to 6 factories [USA and Canada, own or third party] and single BU
  • Responsible for innovation, VIP, Product Group VP support and co-op development
  • Key business impact decisions are minimizing capital expenditure, improving gross margins and minimize material write-off and expediting costs, while ensuring continuity of material supply to maintain customer service for existing products and innovation
  • Manage over € 2,400mm in Turnover per year


Key Requirements:


  • Business or Technical degree preferred with 2-3 years general business experience in any function Logistics/Operations/Manufacturing/Supply Management/Planning).
  • Experience in either purchasing, planning, SAP, general supply chain or project management is a requirement.
  • APICS certification is a plus!.
  • Understanding of tactical and strategic “Business Objectives”
  • Knowledge of corporate “standards of leadership”
  • Experience with integrated systems, including both mainframe and desktop computer applications (this includes Ariba, SAP, Interspec and as well as Access, MS Office, MS Project and MS Excel)
  • Must be able to run multiple projects simultaneously as primary role is to manage change / projects required by the business with suppliers. Must be highly proficient in use of SAP (Purchasing modules), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
  • Must be able to see problems in entirety, recognize interdependencies and sort through issues to solve problems. Strong analytical ability is needed to work with data.
  • Organized, pay attention to detail and follow up well to deliver project results in time and ensure continuity of supply
  • Clear and accurate in providing information to internal stakeholders, internal partners and suppliers both verbal and written.
