A Certified Medical Assistant position in Roanoke, VA is available through Adecco Medical and Science. In this role, you will make decisions with other professionals and know when to seek consultation with supervisor or medical staff. Although the position will be expected to operate with a high level of independence, the position will meet regularly with supervisory staff to review cases and receive supervision. This is a minimum 3-month contract opportunity starting immediately.

The Certified Medical Assistant position in Roanoke, VA include:

Responsibilities


Preparing and typing correspondence.
Arranging for outside referrals for the prescriber.
Calling prescriptions to the pharmacy for the prescriber.
Performs consumer record review prior to clinic visit to obtain historical data.
Obtains and records patient’s vital signs: temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight and height.
Reports assessment findings to practitioner and records the information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely manner.
Recording consumer interview, history and chief complaint in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), in a timely manner.
Monitors consumer status, recognizing and reporting abnormal findings or changes in condition.
Confirms and clarifies written orders prior to implementation of delegated tasks.
Provides appropriate patient education, health information materials and community resource lists as directed and maintains educational supplies.
Identifies consumer’s need for additional information and refers to appropriate healthcare resources.
Assist with obtaining lab results.
Respond to consumer requests for refill medication.
Send orders to providers requesting refills.
Authorize refills as directed by providers.
Assist with contact/communication of consumer/family members and Primary Care Physician’s.
Assist with prescription distribution of stimulant scripts to pharmacies.
Assist consumers with prior authorizations of medication.
Preparing and administering medications with prescriber’s authorizations.
Disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
Practicing OSHA safety standards.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
Instruct consumers about medications.
Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician.
Participate in routine staff meetings, attend all appropriate in-services, training workshops, or continuing education programs.
Work as requested to provide mental health outreach, education, and prevention in the community.
Maintain strict confidentiality according to all Federal and State guidelines and requirements.
Maintain positive personal and professional conduct at all times.
Maintain a cooperative relationship with employees, medical staff, and others
Adhere to and support ACS policies, programs, and activities
Demonstrates tact, courtesy, and a positive approach to communication and interaction with other employees, consumers, community partners, etc.
Continue personal development to ensure current knowledge in the field of service.
Maintain a safe, clean, and drug free environment.
Display a willingness to work beyond what is required periodically and travel for continuing education hours.
Maintain service documentation that meets ACS standards, Medicaid standards, and/or any other auditing agency’s standards, such as the LME. Submit all documentation and other components of consumers’ medical records within agency timelines.
Submit accurate monthly timesheets detailing services provided in the manner prescribed by current agency policy.
Perform any other job-related duties as specified by supervisor.
In addition to these activities the clinician must be able to adapt to the changing nature of the above-mentioned requirements. He/she must be able to adapt to changing paperwork requirements, changing forms, and frequently changing expectations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
Must not have any substantiated findings of abuse or neglect.
Must divulge any criminal convictions and submit to a criminal background check.
Preferably have experience working in a team setting.
Must have the ability to relate positively to children and adults of all ages, races, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities.
Preferably have past work experience in social services, education, or a related field.


Educational Requirements


High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
Certification as a Medical Assistant by The American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
