Chemical Technician I


A Chemical Technician I role in Joliet, IL is now available through Adecco Medical and Science. In this role, you be responsible for analytical testing that will be used in the development of new product specifications. In this position you will perform quality testing, maintenance, and calibrations of the instruments in addition to assisting in the development of new test methods as needed. You will be pulling samples from the warehouse, conducting analytical testing, and making a disposition on the material. Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm. This is a minimum 6-month contract assignment starting in April 2019.

The responsibilities of the Chemical Technician I include:

Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications.
Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyses using techniques such as chromatography,
spectroscopy, physical and chemical separation techniques, and microscopy.
Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of
solids, liquids, and gaseous materials.
Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses.
Provide technical support and assistance to chemists and engineers
Prepare chemical solutions for products and processes following standardized formulas, or create experimental
Maintain, clean, and sterilize laboratory instruments and equipment.
Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results.


B.S./B. A Degree in Chemistry, or related field
Knowledge of laboratory practices, scientific terminology, and the characterization and preparation of materials used in routine and special procedures
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
A high attention to detail and quality in results
Must be able to establish and meet deadlines to produce independent results, while building a network of resources in the company
Must work well with other team members, including design engineers
Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously


85% in a Chem Lab & 15% on the Plant Floor, collecting samples
When in the lab, you will be required to have steel toes, long pants, long sleeves, and wear a lab coat and safety glasses. When on the plant floor, a hard hat will be provided.

You will complete a 2-4-week training (SOPs, Shadowing) with a more Sr. Lab Tech. Once the training is completed, you will report to the Principal Lab Technician
