Adecco Medical and Science has an immediate need for a Analytical Development Chemist III for our Orange County location.

JOB SUMMARY:

Design, plan and perform a variety of project-oriented analytical work assignments to support the Analytical Sciences department’s deliverables utilizing a variety of available techniques and technologies. With minimum direction from the scientist, provide inputs to analytical study designs, independently perform analytical method qualification to ensure method performance and prepare the qualification reports.

Assist Scientist with analytical method development; prepare analytical methods, technical memos and reports. Perform analytical testing of necessary samples with focus on data accuracy and efficiency. Obtain necessary chemical reagents, reference standards and other components from appropriate sources. Ensure laboratory operational capability by proper maintenance of laboratory equipments and instrumentation. Prompt and accurate documentation of experiments, results and conclusions are important responsibilities.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Project Execution:

• Plan and perform a variety of project-oriented analytical work assignments to support the development of drug substances and products. Assist the department scientists on the development and review of new analytical methods, and contribute to the design of analytical experiments with the scientists to meet the project objectives and timelines.
• Assist with analytical method development, independently qualify analytical methods.
• Perform analytical testing of a variety of drug substance and drug product samples ensuring efficiency, timeliness and generating error free data. Troubleshoot any poor quality data and instrument performance problem with guidance from the scientist.

2. Documentation:

• Maintain and complete all required documentation including logbooks, lab notebooks, and analysis records in a timely manner.
• Prepare methods and qualification reports as assigned.
• Collaborate with department scientists on the preparation of results for reports and presentation to project sub-teams.
• Prepare and/or contribute to analytical results memos and technical reports as required.

3. General Laboratory Responsibilities:

• Obtain necessary chemical reagents, reference standards and other components from appropriate sources.
• Maintain laboratory equipments and instrumentation.
• Perform all analytical activities per applicable safety guidelines, departmental guidelines and good scientific practices.
• General laboratory maintenance as assigned.

4. Scientific Excellence:

• Demonstrate an effort to improve the standard of all aspects of scientific work by showing initiative and leadership in the laboratory, learning new techniques, demonstrating problem solving ability and attention to detail.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills in all facets of analytical sciences by keeping informed through reading the literature, participating in related seminars, and presenting at department meetings.
• Attend technical training classes related to analytical sciences, specialized analytical techniques, or project related subject matter.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

1. A BS degree with 3+ years or an MS degree with 2+ years of analytical development experience in pharmaceutical R&D.

2. Experience in effective use of HPLC, GC, chromatography data systems and other instruments, knowledge of experimental procedures, experience with sample preparations are essential.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Good knowledge of analytical instrumentation, data processing software and strong computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point required.
2. Strong oral and written communication skills.
3. Must be able to follow operating guidelines and adhere to Company safety policies.
4. Ability to multitask two to three projects simultaneously and effectively collaborate with other group members on projects and assignments.
5. Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines. Work with minimal supervision.
6. Strong interpersonal and team-work skills.
7. Ability to plan and accurately perform, complete and document highly detailed tasks. Excellent experimental skills, ability to analyze and interpret data reasonably well and troubleshoot experimental problems. Communicate and proactively update supervisor on status of assignments.
