A Chemist role in Eagan, MN is now available through Adecco Medical and Science. You will be responsible for executing laboratory test methods and in some cases test method design and development, requiring basic laboratory skills and application of basic statistical methods. Proficiency with MS Excel or (optionally) statistical software a plus. Applicant should be comfortable with hands-on work in the lab and operating laboratory and prototype instrumentation, demonstrating strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Please note this is a minimum 1-year contract opportunity starting in February 2020.

Job Responsibilities:

Some general chemical laboratory tasks will be required, including solution formulation, titrations, experimental set-up, analysis of results and safe laboratory procedures.
Familiarity with microbiological methods is a plus.
Applicant will learn a variety of experimental test methods and perform routine, repetitive testing either under the direct guidance of a Sr. Technical Associate or self-directed after appropriate training.
Applicant will also be trained to operate lab or pilot-scale electronic or mechanical equipment of moderate complexity and conduct experiments under the direction of a Sr. technical associate.
Applicant should demonstrate good laboratory working skills (cleanliness, attentive to detail, organized, thoroughness) and possess an aptitude for understanding practical (customer) application of the products being tested.
You will be expected to record and document all work, including experimental purpose, procedures, observations, and data analysis in technical notebooks, as well as summarize and create presentations on the work in the form of power point slides and graphical displays.
Applicant should have an acute awareness of work safety.

Required Skills:

• Basic wet chemical lab skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel user
• Quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation skills
• Familiarity with basic statistical methods of analysis and statistical software
• Proven mechanical aptitude
• Strong attention to detail and safe work practices
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral

Skills - Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Design of Experiments and DoE software (MiniTab, Design Expert, JMP)
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Power Point)
• Familiarity with programming tools such as MATLAB
• Proficiency in one or more of the following activities: developing an experimental work plan, completing a laboratory notebook, writing technical reports


• Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or related discipline required
• 0-2 years' of experience required
