Clinical Lab Assistant - Palo Alto,CA(Morning Shift)

Adecco- Medical & Science is looking for an experienced Morning Shift- Lab Assistant with Chemistry background and atleast a year experience in hospital setting for one of our leading client in healthcare industry at Palo Alto, CA.

Employment type: Contract Position
Duration- 3- 6 Months
Pay Rate- $27/ Hour
Shift- Evening Shift - 7:00AM-3:30PM

Job Summary:
-Under supervisor's direction is responsible for accessioning, receiving, setting cultures, and specimen processing.
-Responsible for non-technical laboratory duties such as responding to telephone inquiries, forwarding test results, sample preparation, equipment monitoring.

Essential Functions

-The Temp Lab Assistant responsibilities are to process different color-top blood collection tubes, archive samples after analysis, monitoring Chemistry Outstanding List, support Lab Scientists in Chemistry instrument maintenance, perform variety of clerical duties and answer incoming calls regarding Chemistry results etc.
-Accessions patient information into laboratory information system(s) Checks all requests for proper and accurate patient information.
-Consults with Supervisor or Technologist if request is problematic.
-Notifies physician, nursing unit, clinic, etc. if sample received is inappropriate or compromised.
-Adheres to all safety/health regulatory and state/federal legal requirements and the policies, operating procedures, and Services Standard of the Hospitals.
-Assists in the routine monitoring of laboratory equipment and temperature-controlled units, and working condition.
-Reports equipment problems or irregularities i.e. temperature reading is outside the assigned acceptable or established ranges.
-Maintains the assigned logs and records for all Laboratory transactions and information in accordance with department and regulatory requirements.

-Receives and processes all specimens/samples following the proper laboratory procedures.
-Ensures patient samples are distributed to the appropriate areas of the laboratory or routed to other hospital departments as required.
-Resolves problems encountered in routine work using knowledge of department processes, protocols and fundamentals of the services provided by the Laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications
-Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
-Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-Some experience in a hospital Microbiology lab will be a plus

-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
-Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus
-Ability to organize, prioritize, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities
-Ability to perform basic mathematics
-Ability to speak and write English effectively at a level appropriate for the job
-Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
