Clinical Research Associate

Adeccon, in partnership with one of their leading National customers, is recruiting for a long-term temporary contract Clinical Research Associate to help support in their R&D departments.

Position Summary:
The US Clinical Operations team is seeking an experienced individual who can support clinical studies to support projects.  This individual must work independently and understand electronic tools, communicate and coordinate well with others on study and project teams and manage a diverse range of duties and priorities, with guidance from clinical and project teams.  This individual will be assigned to one or more project teams and will assist with coordination of all study activities, including start up, investigator training, conduct, site monitoring and close out. This position is a role that works with project associates, clinical associates and clinicians, in addition to other scientists, and reports into the US Clinical Operations team.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
With guidance, specific to the task and or the study, this individual assists in the support of all aspects of the planning and conduct of a study.

These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in preparation of study protocols, data capture forms, test article documentation and study reports
  • Maintaining study files in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Assisting in data management processes including paper and electronic data capture, entry, review, tracking and verification utilizing electronic tools and centralized data management systems.
  • Assisting with animal related study activities (i.e. clinical sampling, test article administration, and clinical observations)
  • Serving as the principal communication link between sponsor and study site
  • Providing clinical updates to project teams and sub-teams
  • Travel may be required and is variable, depending upon project status   
This role requires interactions with others on multiple study teams, and also in other departments such as procurement.  Position must be able to handle a high volume of tasks and requires a keen eye for detail, an ability to learn new systems, and demonstrated skill with resolving issues.  

Minimum Background and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a technical area such as animal science, biology, veterinary technology
  • Minimally two years of experience in the livestock industry, a biological science area, a veterinary technician position, or research experience in an academic institution or the pharmaceutical industry.  
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and very good written and oral communication skills. 
  • Competence with multiple software platforms and data management experience. 
  • Previous experience in a research environment (GCP/GLP) and/or previous experience in research/product development in the animal health industry.  
  • Experience with electronic data capture and remote communication tools and skills.  
  • Experience working with production and research facilities.

Work Environment:
This position works in animal research facilities handling livestock and companion animals.  There may be exposure to animal wastes, chemicals and biologics and possibly radio-labeled compounds.  Work will be conducted in lab, clinic, office, bio-containment and animal housing facilities.  There may be exposure to temperature, climate extremes and dirty and dusty conditions.  Flexible work hours may be required.
