Clinical Therapist

We are assisting a local client with a Direct-Hire/ Permanent Placement position in the Corning, NY Area. This position will pay 55,000-60,000 annually depending on prior experience. Please see the job description below and feel free to contact us with any questions.

General Summary of Duties:

The Clinical Therapist is responsible for conducting assessments, evaluation services, and diagnostic determinations. Provide individual, group, or family therapy to youths and families in their home. The Clinical Therapist will develop treatment plans as well as provided other necessary documentation.  The Clinical Therapist will interface with local providers and provide linkages to other services as needed.


Essential Responsibilities or Functions of the Position:

  1. Responsible for providing the service of Other Licensed Practitioner and Community Psychiatric Supports and Treatment.
  2. Responsible for conducting intake, ongoing assessments, and evaluations.
  3. Responsible for making diagnostic and eligibility determinations for additional services.
  4. Conduct individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy based on evaluation assessment.
  5. Utilize evidenced-based, strengths-based, trauma-informed counseling modalities.
  6. Provision of crisis services as necessary.
  7. Develops and maintains accurate and timely client-specific records, reports, billing, treatment plans and progress notes according to all oversight agencies.
  8. Responsible for making referrals as deemed appropriate.
  9. Will participate in training, supervision and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  10. Must possess a valid/clear driver’s license and dependable vehicle, and provide transportation utilizing your own vehicle, to activities as indicated within the plan of care. 
  11. Must maintain professional licensure and applicable continuing education credits.
  12. Carries out all other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor, Manager of Youth Services, and/or designee.


Typical Working Conditions:

Normal office environment and field work, with occasional weekend and evening work required.

Exposure category #1 (OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens).


Typical Physical Demands:

Requires some sitting, standing, walking, bending, and when required physical interventions/assistance to youth, which may require lifting or holding.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.  Requires legible handwriting for written documentation on a daily basis. Requires sufficient range of hearing and eyesight to drive agency vehicles, record, prepare and communicate reports.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The Clinical Therapist must have skill in gathering, interpreting, and reporting information in addition to skills in written and verbal communication.  Ability to make work plans and follow through on those plans independently and the ability to identify areas in need of improvement and recommend solutions is a must.  The Clinical Therapist will have good time management and organizational skills.  Ability to liaison with external agencies is a must.  Proficiency in computer skills is needed.  The Clinical Therapist must also have the ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving, decision-making.  Sound clinical judgment and working knowledge of the DSM-V.



Must be licensed by New York State and able to practice independently as a: Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, or Licensed Psychoanalyst. May also include individuals who are Licensed Masters Social Workers licensed to practice under supervision or direction of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Licensed Psychologist, or a Psychiatrist.



At least two years of experience providing services to youth or adults with serious emotional disturbances. Experience in working within a multidisciplinary team and a working knowledge and understanding of mental health diagnoses is required. Assessment and evaluation experience is required.
