CNC Lathe Setup Operator

Essential Job Functions


Must be proficient in setting up CNC Lathe equipment in the Lathe department, including Nakamura equipment.
Working independently using blueprints, work instructions and being able to use and understand all measuring and gauging tools is essential.
Responsible for quality of all products leaving the CNC Lathe department on assigned machines.
Be able to change and/or set all required tooling and perform 1st piece and in-process inspections.
Train and mentor operators within the department.
Also performing line walks of the Lathe area as directed by immediate supervisor.
Must be familiar and perform all 5S as required within the Lathe department.
Must also adhere to all company safety rules while also developing new processes to conform to safety regulations.
Having a full understanding of all company procedures, processes and rules as stated in the company’s employee handbook.
Follow all company safety rules and must report all unsafe acts to immediate supervisor.
Perform any other duties as directed by the CNC Lathe Supervisor.




Required Skills


5+ years of setup experience of CNC Machines.
Understanding of the Lean Enterprise tool.
Must have familiarity with aluminum, brass, ledloy, 300 series stainless steels including 316, 430F and 430FR.
Must be analytical with good trouble shooting skills.
Hands-on experience in machine setup including feeds and speeds.
Must be computer literate while also being able to follow instructions.
Ability to accept responsibility and make sound decisions.
Be able to work well with others.

Internal PPM over 3,000
External PPM over 300
On time delivery over 95%


Physical Demands


Required to be able to lift up to 50lbs infrequently.
Use of hands to change tools, handle or feel and to reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to stand or walk frequently.
Vision abilities required include close vision, ability to adjust focus and depth perception.
